If you have the chance to take a class or private training session on chasing & repousse work from Liza Nechamkin-Glasser, jump on it! Liza shares her decades of decorative metal experience through well thought out demonstrations, photographs and physically studying the pieces she has created. The practice pattern she chose for us teaches specific skills, and is designed to be revisited again and again with different techniques as we gain experience. Just watching the way Liza deliberately moves metal is priceless!

High Relief Chasing in STEEL
Armorer: Douglas Pryor at Nechamkin Silver Studios
September 24-26, 2017

In this 3 day workshop we'll be exploring the plasticity of sheet steel through material appropriation using raising and chasing. This method is designed to keep the relative thickness of the material consistent to the original thickness, allowing the chaser to save material for sculpture and dramatic undercuts without loosing the inheritance strength of the material.

There are a few projects for us to pick from, they are intentionally designed by Douglas to guide us through working with steel in this method. All tooling is provided! All you need is your strong arms and curious mind!
